GUTS offers a complete lockbox service that encompasses data management, printing and mailing tax statements, and remittance processing.  The county generates a bill-print file from their property tax management system; GUTS prints and mails the tax statements in a state-approved format, utilizing the latest in mailing technology to enable the county to receive the deepest postage discounts possible; tax payments are processed through high-speed equipment that enables the county to receive payment information faster; and GUTS provides a file to upload into the county’s property tax management system.

This lockbox service enables County Treasurers to mail tax statements and process tax payments more quickly, which results in considerable savings to the county.   The time county employees used to commit to printing, mailing, and processing payments can now be utilized more productively by performing other required tasks.  In addition, the payments are entered into the property tax management system more quickly, thereby enabling the Treasurer to invest the funds sooner and for longer periods of time.  This provides additional interest income for the county’s operating budget.
